Ginger Gammon recipe

This simple slow-cooker recipe is really zingy and full of flavour - but it's an absolute cinch to make. The gammon is delicious cold, so you could always cook the meat overnight and then leave it to cool over the day ready for eating at tea time.

Ingredients:

  • 900g boneless gammon joint
  • 500ml bottle ginger beer
  • 1 tbsp. freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp. dark brown soft sugar

Method of Preparation:

  1. Mix the grated ginger and brown sugar into the ginger beer.

  2. Place the gammon joint into the slow cooker and pour the ginger beer mixture over.

  3. Set the slow cooker to medium and cook for eight hours.

You could also do this recipe with apple - use 500ml dry cider, 1 freshly grated apple and 1 tbsp. golden caster sugar. This recipe serves four people generously.
