Sticky Asian Gammon recipe

These sweet yet spicy gammon steaks are a perfect way to jazz up your tea-time meal repertoire. Serve it with a simple noodle salad or some crunchy crispy coleslaw for a tasty yet healthy meal.

Ingredients:

  • 2 gammon steaks
  • 2 tsp. Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 tbsp. runny honey
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1 red chilli
  • 1 orange
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

Method of Preparation:

  1. Zest and juice the orange. Finely chop the chilli and mix with the zest, juice, soy sauce, honey and five-spice powder.

  2. Heat the olive oil in a pan and then fry rapidly for two minutes on either side.

  3. Add the sauce to the pan and simmer until the gammon is glazed and golden and almost burnt around the edges.

  4. Serve immediately with the pan juices poured over the gammon steaks.

A lovely garnish to this dish would be some lightly toasted sesame seeds. This recipe serves two people.
